We, the 'Hyderabad Haleem makers association' have grouped and organized ourselves under an umbrella to protect the authentic, genuine and Hyderabad's very own unique meat based delicacy of 'Hyderabad Haleem'. Though one can say, 'Haleem' as such a food product, which had its origins elsewhere away from India, after its entry into the historic city of 'Hyderabad'(Deccan) in India, which was ruled by the Qutub Shahi & Asaf Jahi dynasties has blended perfectly with the local flavour in the Deccan region and has undergone significant transformation and it is quite different in taste, texture, flavour and various parameters from the 'Haleem' it was. And hence it can be rightfully called as 'Hyderabad Haleem' which has achieved a prominent place in the iconic traditional food delicacies of 'Hyderabad' (Deccan)As it can be clearly seen that 'Hyderabad Haleem' is not only becoming popular in various regions of India, apart from the city of 'Hyderabad', but also, gaining great acceptance in countries abroad. Though its definitely augurs well for the great numbers of makers of authentic & genuine 'Hyderabad Haleem' and would improve the lives of the thousands of people involved either directly or supporting making of 'Hyderabad Haleem' by supplying various raw materials, or involved in packaging, handling, marketing of this famous product.

At the same time, We feel that it is of PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE that the reputation & uniqueness of 'Hyderabad Haleem' achieved painstakingly over the years is to be saved and it is a GREAT RESPONSIBILITY of each and every one who loves 'Hyderabad Haleem' to understand and appreciate this and contribute their mite to this onerous task. At any point of time, the makers of 'Hyderabad Haleem' from the city of 'Hyderabad (Deccan) due to influences like market pressures, high commercial demand must NEVER, EVER compromise on quality or deviate from the well established norms & traditions in making and manufacturing of authentic, genuine 'Hyderabad Haleem' Definitely, there should be no two differing opinions in the aspect of fostering and nurturing the reputation and image of 'Hyderabad Haleem'

With an aim to achieve these objectives, We, the 'Hyderabad Haleem Makers Association', which was formed in the year 2009, under the astute leadership of Mr. M A MAJEED, Proprietor of PISTA HOUSE, Hyderabad, a well known maker of authentic, genuine and traditional 'Hyderabad Haleem' and chose to apply for 'Geographical Indication' (GI) status under the Indian Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration & Protection)Act, 1999 for 'Hyderabad Haleem'
